
TREK TO FEDCHENKO GLACIER FROM THE EAST
RATING: moderate to strenuous trek
ACCOMMODATION: 7 nights in hotels, guest-houses, homestays and 8 days camping
ACTIVITIES: 5 days drive on asphalt and rough roads, 7 days trekking and hiking on high terrain and ice on elevation from 3800 m to 5200m
TRANSPORTATION: 4 WD jeeps and donkeys (except 3 days trek on Fedchenko glacier)
FOOD: 3 hot meals per day (breakfast, lunch, dinner); 2 (breakfast, dinner) on trekking days (snacks provided while walking days)
HIGHLIGHTS: crossing the country from west to the east with challenging landscapes everyday, from orchards of Kohistan and Badakhshan to lunar deserts of high Pamirs. Remote Afghan villages seen from opposite side of Panj River. Trek to Fedchenko glacier (77 kms) - the longest in the area.

Day 3: Drive along Panj River to Khorog / hotel-guest-house / B, L, D
Day 4: Drive to Murghab 3630m visiting Ak-balyk holy lake / homestay / B, L, D
Day 5: Drive Murghab - Akbaital Pass (4655m) - Karakul (3920) - Kokui-Bel / tents / B, L, D
Day 7: Trek to Baland-Keek valley (4200m) visiting local shepherds / tents / B, L, D
Day 8: Trek to Kumsay valley / tents / B, L, D
Day 9: Trek to Nalivkin glacier over Jilgha pass (5200m)/ B, L, D
Day 10: Trek to Fedchenko Gl. with optional hike to 5500 / tents / B, L, D
